One of the hardest skills to learn as a student leader is to work hard on yourself. It’s impossible to lead others if you don’t lead yourself in the right direction. You need to constantly reflect and push yourself to be a good example to others.
Skill #2 – Effective Speaker and Communicator
An effective leader needs to have courage to public speak at school events. Good speaking skills allow leaders to communicate the Discovery vision/expectations with others, which is an essential part of being a leader. Having strong communication skills does not just mean speaking to others, but also listening to what others have to say by giving them an opportunity to express their ideas/thoughts.
Skill #3- Taking Pride in Discovery
All student leaders need have a common vision of what makes DCS the best school to be at. Leaders need to promote school spirit, lead by example and take initiative to reach out to all student body. They also need to be a smiling face, a helping hand and speak kindly to their peers, while encouraging participation in school events.
